Lakwatsa galore

Wednesday, August 15, 2007

Ok! Happenings in the last two days. Last Monday two of our big bosses came to our office here in Manila. Wala lang. Im not sure if ano ang business nila dito kung bakit sila dumalaw. Tuesday morning, we had a training about the new technology being launched. Dinner came, we're off to Seaside Macapagal. Woow. I mean wow. Seafoods galore. Shrimps, crabs, squid.. sarap! hehehe. Few drinking session followed. Di ako nakainom coz sobrang busog. Sinulit ko talaga. Coz you know, seafoods are very expensive. hehe. Kaya sometimes lang I get to eat those, lalo na crab - my favorite. Seaside Dampa pala is better with other Dampa like in Libis and Timog. Nice place. We ate at Aling Tonia's and I left like 10 pm na rin. Pictures at my Multiply.

Wednesday - today I am on leave. We went to grocery na supposedly kasama si Janea. We were at Megamall mga 11 am and ate at McDo first. Then grocery na. We bought everything na kailangan sa house. After that, we decided to watch A Love Story. Dapat magkahiwalay kami ng papanoorin coz he likes to watch Bourne Ultimatum (ganun kami pag napagtripan namin manood ng movie). So yun. I already knew Maricel is the mistress. Medyo common ang story and at the end, it was Maricel's choice to leave. Then nagdecide na lang si Aga na ayusin ang buhay with Angelica since nagkaanak na sila. Angelica is so HOT. and grabe ang love scenes nila ha. After the movie we went home na mga 5 pm na din yun.

So ayun lang naman mga nangyari yesterday and today. Wala naman masyado makwento. just want to update my blog :)

Bitchy and Meany

Many have been mistaken on saying that I am soft-spoken, not warfreak, etc. etc. Yes somehow they are true but little they didnt know that I do become bitchy and meany sometimes. Yes I am. I have a lot of experiences that made me realize na bitch din pala ako. Here are some of the samples which I can remember:

SCENE 1

Sa FX on the way to Pasig. I was wearing my Ipod listening to RNB songs. Eh may isang nag-inarte na lalaki (note: GUY) bigla sumigaw na:  (something to this effect)

"Pwede ba yung naka-earphones diyan pakipatay nakakaistorbo e"

I was shocked (narinig ko pa rin kasi nga di naman kalakasan ang sounds ko). So sinagot ko siya "So?"

Sumagot ba naman "anong so? Eh nakakaistorbo ka eh"

Sabi ko "kung naiistorbo ka at ayaw mo ng maingay, magtaxi ka"

Then enough. Di na siya sumagot. Lalo ko pa nilakasan sounds ko ehe :D

SCENE 2

Sa pila naman ito ng FX. Dun kasi sa landmark, pauso nila dun is you have to get a ticket/card muna bago ka makaride ng fx (parang mrt style) at ibibigay mo yung card sa driver (meaning bayad ka na).

So I showed him my card saying na "Nakabili na po ako"

Then he replied "Bakit uso na ba reservation dito ngayon???" (in sarcastic tone)

Then I answered "Oo simula ngyon uso na." (in more sarcastic tone)

I noticed that the barker just explained na may binalikan lang ako and kakabili ko lang din ng card few minutes ago. :D

SCENE 3

This time naman inside a moviehouse. I was with my friend and her boyrfriend that time. So since commercials pa naman yun, ok lang.

My friends were shocked.

***more to come. Karamihan taxi moments pa. Kaya lang aalalahanin ko pa.hehehe

Lotus Notes 8

Monday, August 13, 2007

Today's the time I felt so tired again because of work. Before, workload is minimal. If not, we already know what to do so it does not take forever and much brain cells to resolve issues. But this morning, we were assigned to do tasks that are new to my ears.

We were assigned to evaluate new release of Lotus Notes which is R8. Evaluate includes testing in a test environment, comparing to our current R6 version and also R7. and other issues with regards to email, calendaring, database, etc etc. hay naku. Sobrang dami issues nito.

Right now i am currently reading this IBM Notes R8 and honestly, it bores me to death. Ayaw magsynch in sa utak ko. Waahh, i need to present the initial findings next week agad. hmpft.

Buti na lang mommies are here to save me from boredom. Currently chatting about.. secret! censored :P

after the love has gone

Thursday, August 9, 2007

Dear Wife:

I’m writing you this letter to tell you that I’m leaving you forever. I’ve been a good man to you for seven years and I have nothing to show for it.

These past two weeks have been hell. Your boss called to tell me that you quit your job today and that was the last straw.

Last week, you came home and didn’t even notice that I had a new haircut, had cooked your favorite meal and even wore a brand new pair of silk boxers. You ate in two minutes, and went straight to sleep after watching all your soaps. You don’t tell me you love me anymore; you don’t want sex or anything that connects us as husband and wife.

Either you’re cheating on me or you don’t love me anymore; whatever the case, I’m gone.

Your EX-Husband

P.S. Don’t try to find me. Your SISTER and I are moving away to West Virginia together! Have a great life!

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Dear Ex-Husband:

Nothing has made my day more than receiving your letter. It’s true that you and I have been married for seven years, although a good man is a far cry from what you’ve been.

I watch my soaps so much because they drown out your constant whining and griping. Too bad that doesn’t work.

I DID notice when you got a hair cut last week, but the first thing that came to my mind was ‘You look just like a girl!’ Since my mother raised me not to say anything if you can’t say something nice, I didn’t comment.

And when you cooked my favorite meal, you must have gotten me confused with MY SISTER, because I stopped eating pork seven years ago!

About those new silk boxers: I turned away from you because the $49.99 price tag was still on them, and I prayed that it was a coincidence that MY SISTER had just borrowed fifty dollars from me that morning.

After all of this, I still loved you and felt that we could work it out. So when I hit the lotto for ten million dollars, I quit my job and bought us two tickets to Jamaica. But when I got home you were gone. Everything happens for a reason, I guess.

I hope you have the fulfilling life you always wanted. My lawyer said that the letter you wrote ensures you won’t get a dime from me. So take care.

Signed,

Your Ex-Wife, Rich As Hell and Free!

P.S. I don’t know if I ever told you this, but my sister Carla was born Carl. I hope that’s not a problem.

route

Before when I was still residing in my mother's house, I ride a taxi every morning going to work. But then when I moved in to another location which is nearer to the FX Terminal of Ayala, I take FX but - Rustan's is the only UNLOADING AREA which is near to Makati Ave. I work at Arnaiz Ave. by the way, so from Rustan's, I walk that long going to Makati Ave. and ride a jeep going to Mantrade. Since I hate walking via morning rush, I decided to get off at Robinson's Summit and from there, ride another cab going to Arnaiz. I think its just the waste of money and time but I have no choice. I tried to ask some barker if there is a terminal going to Landmark but they say there's none.

Yesterday, I had the guts to ask the FX Driver from Landmark-Pasig route where is their terminal in Pasig. He told me that the terminal in Mc Donald's will pass through Makati Ave, Dela Rosa, Salcedo, and finally Benavidez (back of our bldg). Im so happy when i knew the information. So this morning I headed to McDo terminal and was surprised because the line is much shorter than that of in Rotonda. And I got off just in front of our building, no need to take another ride. Haay. Finally i discovered the perfect route. :)

a lot like weekend

Monday, August 6, 2007

My weekend was a blast. Last Friday night, I had dinner with my fellow mommies at Sentro, Greenbelt 3. It was fun meeting the new mommies i didnt get to meet the first time (at Recipe). Sobrang daldalan, kanya-kanyang kwento, experiences, hinaing, and all. Syempre di mawawala ang picture pero na kay mommy Peeya pa and we dont know when she's gonna post those pics as she claimed there's no internet, phone, cable sa new house nila hehehe. Anyhoo, food at Sentro are great. I liked the way they cooked Galunggong sprinkled with garlic and tastes like spanish sardines. Also, there's this beef stew-like (something called as Osso Bucco - i cant remember) that's so yummy! Boneless Crispy Pata is also good. While waiting for the others to come, (i am the early bird, followed by Flor then Rona), we 3 found out that we all came from Pasig and have the same alma mater! Gosh, what a really small world! Another instance is that Rona and Haze work in a same building here in Makati. Last to arrive was mommy Candice which she said she's like a hippo because she's preggy BUT NOT! she's a sexy preggy. You wouldnt know that she has already bore 2 kids and not to mention her 3rd child coming out soon. After dinner, we went to Krokodile Grill to have few drinks (except for Daiz, Rona and Candice of course). 12 mn came and everybody wanted to leave, as mommy Flor has another gimik, mommy Haze already got her sundo. Nagsabay kami ni Daiz sa cab dahil on the way ang places namin. While Pia and Rona shared the same cab too. I really enjoyed the night.

Before going home, I dropped by to Lhanie's place. Huling kita na namin before she fly to Singapore. I brought some snacks for us to eat habang nagkukwentuhan. I will miss her. I will miss baby Lorin. Haayy, I just wish them luck. Hope I can visit there this year, gusto ko nga sana Christmas or sana work na rin hehe.

Saturday, it was our time to move to our new place. Isang hakutan lang gamit namin. Kaya sandali lang din inayos. Dami ko pa binili like bigas, gasul, ilang groceries, mineral water, etc! etc! Medyo magastos pero worth it. Its our house, although rented (labo!) pero kami lang ang nakatira. We slept early because of pagod and puyat. Good thing Janea wasnt fuzzy that night. In fact she slept soundly and comfortable, and so we did. We woke up at around 7 am. My lola came to visit and ate lunch at our house. Iniwan muna namin si Janea sa kanya dahil bumili kami ng ilan pang gamit like dish dispenser, mirror, pot holders, etc! etc!. Our house is almost complete. Without the cabinet and sofa nga lang. Pero to follow na yun. Bon and I are eyeing for this electric fan na pwedeng lagyan ng yelo since medyo mainit sa house lalo na pag afternoon. I think everywhere naman is so hot. Buti na lang utilities are ready na like tubig, ilaw, cable, phone and internet. So di na kami masyado mabobored.

That's how my weekend goes. Medyo busy but happy

Ouija…

Friday, July 27, 2007

While everybody's talking about the latest blockbuster hits like Harry Potter, Transformers and Die Hard 4.0..here I am ranting about the movie I watched.. OUIJA. For some, it appears to be corny that I watch Tagalog films. I dont know, its just that hindi ko talaga nakahiligan ang mga films like Harry Potter, LOTR, etc. etc. I only watch English films if its a love story and Comedy, sometimes horror. Other else, not my type. I remember the first time I attempt to watch Harry Potter 1 way back college days, nakupo, nakatulog ako sa sinehan! Hahaha! Ewan ko ba. I dont care whether I can relate to many or not. Basta, not my type lang.

Siguro naman, others wont mind if I became a spoiler here. Its a usual story about four cousins who used to live with their lola during younger days. Nung unang part young Iza, Juday and Rhian played it pero young Jolina was scared to join. Nakatawag sila ng spirit pero their lola managed to stop them by saying a prayer. 20 years later, their lola died so uwi uli sila ng province para dalawin. Then one night nilaro ulet nila yung Oiuja board (except Jolina again). That was the time they called the spirit of MAGDA. So after nun as usual minulto-multo na nila yung apat. Ang maganda sa movie is yung sound effects. Very effective. Nakakanerbyos. Pero yung mga multo nila is nakakatawa. As usual again, parang si SADAKO. and kung maglakad is parang pilay pilay. hahaha! Also some scenes they got it from the ring and the grudge. Rhian and Iza died here.

So there. Me and Lhanie watched it yesterday at G4. We ate at Kenny Rogers after. :P

Mayonnaise Jar and 2 cups of Coffee

Wednesday, July 25, 2007

When things in your lives seem almost too much to handle, when 24

hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2

cups of coffee.

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in

front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large

and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He

then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the

jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas

between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was

full. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar.

Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the

jar was full. The students responded with an unanimous "yes."

The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table

and poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the

empty space between the sand. The students laughed.

"Now," said the professor as the laughter subsided, "I want you to

recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the

important things–your family, your children, your health, your friends

and your favorite passions–and if everything else was lost and only

they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other

things that matter like your job, your house and your car. The sand is

everything else–the small stuff. "If you put the sand into the jar

first," he continued, "there is no room for the pebbles or the golf

balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on

the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are

important to you. "Pay attention to the things that are critical to your

happiness. Play with your children. Take your spouse out to dinner. Play

another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the

disposal. Take care of the golf balls first–the things that really matter.

Set your priorities. The rest is just sand." One of the students

raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented. The professor

smiled. "I'm glad you asked. It just goes to show you that no matter how

full your life may seem, there's always room

for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend."

Go home on time

Mr. Narayana Murthy is undoubtedly one of the most famous persons from

Karnataka. He is known not just for building the biggest IT empire in

India but also for his simplicity. Almost every important dignitary

visits Infosys campus. He delivered an interesting speech during an employee

session with another IT company in India . He is incidentally, one of

thetop 50 Influencial people of Asia according to an Asiaweek publication

and also the new IT Advisor to the Thailand Prime Minister.

Extract of Mr. Narayana Murthy's Speech during Mentor Session :

I knowpeople who work 12 hours a day, six days a week, or more. Some people

do so because of a work emergency where the long hours are only temporary.

Other people I know have put in these hours for years. I don't know if

they are working all these hours, but I do know they are in the office

this long. Others put in long office hours because they are addicted to

the workplace.

Whatever the reason for putting in overtime, working long hours over

the long term is harmful to the person and to the organization. There are

things managers can do to change this for everyone's benefit. Being in

the office long hours, over long periods of time, makes way for potential

errors. My colleagues who are in the office long hours frequently make

mistakes caused by fatigue.

Correcting these mistakes requires their time as well as the time and

energy of others. I have seen people work Tuesday through Friday to

correct mistakes made after 5 PM on Monday. Another problem is that

people who are in the office long hours are not pleasant company. They often

complain about other people (who aren't working as hard); they are

irritable, or cranky, or even angry. Other people avoid them. Such

behaviour poses problems, where work goes much better when people work

together instead of avoiding one another.

As Managers, there are things we can do to help people leave the

office. First and foremost is to set the example and go home ourselves. I work

with a manager who chides people for working long hours. His words

quickly lose their meaning when he sends these chiding group e-mails with a

time-stamp of 2 AM, Sunday.

Second is to encourage people to put some balance in their lives. For

instance, here is a guideline I find helpful:

1) Wake up, eat a good breakfast, and go to work.

2) Work hard and smart for eight or nine hours.

3) Go home.

4) Read the books/comics, watch a funny movie, dig in the dirt, play

with your kids, etc. 5) Eat well and sleep well.

This is called recreating. Doing steps 1, 3, 4, and 5 enable step 2.

Working regular hours and recreating daily are simple concepts. They

are hard for some of us because that requires 'personal change'. They are

possible since we all have the power to choose to do them.

In considering the issue of overtime, I am reminded of my oldest son.

When he was a toddler, if people were visiting the apartment, he would not

fall asleep no matter how long the visit, and no matter what time of day it

was. He would fight off sleep until the visitors left.It was as if he

was afraid that he would miss something. Once our visitors' left, he would

go to sleep. By this time, however, he was over tired and would scream

through half the night with nightmares. He, my wife, and I, all paid

the price for his fear of missing out. Perhaps some people put in such long

hours because they don't want to miss anything when they leave the

office. The trouble with this is that events will never stop happening. That is

life !! Things happen 24 hours a day. Allowing for little rest is not

ultimately practical. So, take a nap. Things will happen while you're

asleep, but you will have the energy to catch up when you wake.

Hence…

"LOVE YOUR JOB, BUT NEVER FALL IN LOVE WITH YOUR COMPANY BECAUSE YOU

NEVER KNOW WHEN THE COMPANY STOPS LOVING YOU" — Narayana Murthy
